As part of the Five-Day Universal Human Values (UHV) Programme for the 2026–2030 Batch, an Anti-Drug Awareness Session on the theme “Choose Life, Not Drugs” was conducted on 16 July 2026 at the ASCM Seminar Hall. The session was handled by Mr. M. N. Suresh Babu, Assistant Excise Inspector, who created awareness about the growing issue of drug abuse among youngsters.

The resource person explained how young people are drawn into drug use due to peer pressure, curiosity, stress, emotional challenges, social media influence, and the easy availability of drugs. He discussed the serious consequences of substance abuse on physical and mental health, academic performance, family relationships, and future career opportunities. Students were encouraged to develop self-discipline, make wise decisions, and stay away from harmful influences.

The session also focused on how to report drug-related activities. Students were informed that any suspected drug use or trafficking should be reported promptly to parents, teachers, college authorities, the Excise Department, or the Police. The resource person emphasized that timely reporting plays a vital role in protecting individuals and society from the harmful effects of drug abuse.

In addition, the speaker discussed ways to overcome drug addiction, highlighting the importance of early intervention, family support, professional counselling, de-addiction centres, medical treatment, and personal determination. He encouraged students to seek help without hesitation and emphasized that recovery is possible with the right guidance and support.
