UNIVERSAL HUMAN VALUE PROGRAMME FOR 2026-2030 BATCH
NLP Techniques for Personal Growth and Well-being
The Day 2 of the First-Year Orientation Programme at Ahalia School of Commerce and Mathematics (ASCM) featured an engaging and interactive session on “NLP Techniques for Personal Growth and Well-being” by Dr. Siraj P. Hussain, Psychologist, Counsellor, Mental Health Coach, and Teacher Trainer.
The session focused on understanding the connection between the body and mind and how Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) techniques can help students develop positive thinking, confidence, emotional balance, and effective communication. Dr. Siraj introduced various NLP techniques, including Anchoring Techniques, Mapping Techniques, and Memory Tricks, explaining how these methods can improve learning, concentration, and self-management.
The programme was highly interactive, with students actively participating in several activities. Students sat in small circles and engaged in eye-to-eye conversations to improve communication and build confidence. They also introduced themselves by adding a positive adjective before their names, encouraging self-confidence and a positive self-image.
Another reflective activity encouraged students to identify one habit they wanted to continue, one habit they wanted to stop, and one new habit they wished to start, helping them set personal development goals. In a symbolic exercise, students wrote down their weaknesses or negative thoughts on paper, imagined them fading away, and mentally let go of those negative emotions, reinforcing positive thinking and emotional well-being.
The session concluded with an inspiring message on developing a positive mindset, overcoming self-limiting beliefs, and embracing personal growth. The interactive activities and practical techniques made the session meaningful, motivating students to begin their college journey with confidence, optimism, and a growth mindset
