INDUSTRIAL VISIT AT THENGA COCO,VELENTHAVALAM
The Tourism Club of Ahalia School of Commerce & Mathematics (ASCM) organised an industrial visit for the Third Year BBA students to Thenga Coco, Velanthavalam, on 25 September 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The visit was coordinated by Ms. Sheeba Kumar and Ms. Vidhya S.
In the absence of Ms. Maria Kuriakose, Founder and CEO of Thenga Coco, Mr. Ravi, an artisan at Thenga Coco, introduced the organisation and explained the manufacturing process in detail. He explained various stages including raw material sourcing, sorting, cleaning, grinding, polishing, packing, labelling and order processing. A live processing session was also demonstrated.
Students were introduced to a variety of products made from discarded coconut shells, including ice cream bowls, tea cups, wine glasses, jewellery, medals, spoons and different types of vessels. An interactive session was also conducted, during which students raised questions about market opportunities and export possibilities.
The visit provided students with valuable practical exposure to sustainable entrepreneurship, innovative product development, manufacturing processes and real-world business operation
