MINUTE MIKE ACTIVITY: TWO MINUTE SPEECH

Ahalia School of Commerce and Mathematics (ASCM), in association with the Media Club,
conducted the Minute Mike Activity for odd semester, a regular classroom engagement
initiative aimed at enhancing students’ English communication skills and building their
confidence in public speaking.
The activity was conducted every day during the last hour, with students from all classes
participating under the guidance of their respective class tutors. Students selected their topics
in advance and prepared short speeches in English. Each student was given an opportunity to
deliver a two-minute speech on their chosen topic.
The class tutors coordinated the activity in their respective classes and encouraged students to
participate actively. The activity provided a platform for students to express their ideas and
opinions in English, improve their vocabulary and fluency, and develop their presentation
skills.
Furthermore, the activity helped students overcome stage fear, improve their confidence, and
enhance their ability to communicate effectively in front of an audience. The regular practice
also encouraged students to organise their thoughts, develop their speaking abilities, and
become more confident communicators.
Overall, the Minute Mike Activity was a meaningful initiative that contributed to the
development of students’ English language proficiency, communication skills, and self-
confidence through consistent practice and active participation.
