INDUSTRIAL VISIT AT THENGA COCO, VELENTHAVALAM
The Tourism Club of Ahalia School of Commerce & Mathematics (ASCM) organised an Industrial visit for first year B.com and BBA students to Thenga Coco, Velanthavalam, on 28th September 2026 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The visit was coordinated by Ms. Reshma K R and Mr. Vinil Vinod.
In the absence of Ms. Maria Kuriakose, Founder and CEO of Thenga Coco, Mr. Ravi, an artisan at Thenga Coco, introduced the organisation and its products to the students. He explained the various stages of production, including raw material sourcing, sorting, cleaning, grinding, polishing, packing, labelling, and order processing, and demonstrated the polishing of coconut shells.
The team showcased a variety of products made from coconut shells, such as ice cream bowls, tea cups, wine glasses, jewellery, medals, spoons, and other vessels. An interactive session was also held, during which students enquired about pricing and market opportunities.
The industrial visit was a highly enriching and insightful experience. It enabled students to understand the concepts of sustainable entrepreneurship, innovative product design, and the practical aspects of running a business beyond classroom learning.
