As part of the observance of International Literacy Day, the ED Club of Ahalia School of Commerce & Mathematics, in association with IQAC, organised a Financial Literacy Session for the first-year students on 8 September 2026 at 2:30 PM at the ASCM Seminar Hall. The programme was organised with the objective of creating awareness among students about financial literacy, digital safety and the responsible use of online financial services.

The session was handled by Bindhu M, CFL Co-ordinator and Agneya KV CFL Associate, Palakkad Block. The resource persons discussed various forms of cybercrime, including phishing, fake links, fraudulent calls and messages, OTP and UPI scams, online banking frauds and impersonation. Awareness videos prepared by the Cyber Crime Police were also shown to the students, which helped them understand real-life cyber threats and the precautions to be taken. The students were made aware of the importance of protecting passwords, PINs, OTPs and other confidential information and of verifying suspicious messages and payment requests before responding. At the end of the session, a short quiz was conducted to assess the students’ understanding of the topics discussed.

The programme was informative and highly relevant to the first-year students, helping them understand the growing risks associated with digital transactions and online platforms. The programme successfully connected financial literacy with digital literacy and motivated students to become more informed, cautious and responsible users of digital financial services.
