ADD-ON COURSE ON ESSENTIAL ENGLISH SKILLS

The Add-on Course on Essential English Skills, offered during Semester One of the BBA and BCom programmes by Ahalia School of Commerce and Mathematics in collaboration with the Additional Skill Acquisition Programme (ASAP), was successfully completed and proved highly beneficial for students’ academic and professional development. The course aimed to strengthen foundational English language skills and practical communication abilities required in business and commerce, with focus on listening, speaking, reading, and writing, along with spoken English, vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, and fluency. Conducted over 60 hours through interactive methods such as discussions, role plays, group activities, presentations, and practical exercises, the programme enhanced students’ confidence and communication effectiveness. A mock class and an orientation session were conducted prior to the examination to prepare students for assessment. The course concluded with a final examination held at ASAP Park, Lakkidi, on 16th and 19th January, in which 53 students appeared, including 30 BBA students and 23 BCom students. Overall, the course significantly improved students’ language proficiency, employability skills, and holistic personality development, making it a valuable supplement to the Semester One curriculum.
