CLEANING DRIVE AT PALAKKAD FORT

As part of Swachhata Pakhwada 2025 and Gandhi Jayanti celebrations, Ahalia School of Commerce and Mathematics organized a cleaning drive on Thursday, 25th September 2025 at the Palakkad Fort parking area. The initiative was conducted under the guidance of the Archaeological Department of India.

The drive commenced at 10:00 a.m. After an introduction by Dr S. N. Jagadeesh, Principal, ASCM about its significance the drive started with active participation and enthusiasm from both first-year and second-year students of institution.

The cleaning activity was coordinated by Mrs. Muhsina N, Senior Conservation Assistant & Mr. Vinay Kumar, Horticulture Assistant, Archaeological Department of India.

Students were sensitized about the importance of maintaining cleanliness in public heritage spaces and preserving them for future generations. Armed with gloves, brooms, and waste collection bags, the participants diligently cleaned the parking area, collected plastic waste, paper, and other debris, and ensured proper disposal.

The initiative not only reflected the spirit of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan but also spread awareness among the visitors and the local community about the collective responsibility of keeping our surroundings clean.

By the end of the drive, the parking area around Palakkad Fort wore a cleaner and more welcoming look. The Archaeological Department officials appreciated the efforts of the students and encouraged them to continue engaging in such meaningful social activities.

This drive served as a reminder that “Cleanliness is next to Godliness” and stood as a fitting tribute to the vision of Mahatma Gandhi, reinforcing the values of responsibility, service, and civic sense among the younger generation. The programme ended by 11.40pm.The students were accompanied by faculties Ms Jini K. S. Asst Professor and Mr Binil P. V. Asst Professor of ASCM.
