INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING
Ahalia School of Commerce and Mathematics organized an impactful and engaging session as part of the International day against drug abuse and illicit trafficking on 26th June 2025 at 10:00 am. The program aimed to sensitize students about the dangers of drug use and promote positive and healthy lifestyles among youth.
The session commenced with an introduction by Ms. Anushiya M, 2nd year BBA student, highlighting the purpose and relevance of the YAAD initiative.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. S. N. Jagadeesh, Principal, who emphasized the crucial role educational institutions play in shaping the attitudes of youth towards drug awareness and prevention.
The resource person for the session was Dr. Sumina, Senior consultant & Psychologist, Ahalia Ayurveda Medical College and Hospital, who delivered an insightful talk on the psychological, emotional, and social impacts of substance abuse. Her session was interactive and deeply thought-provoking, leaving the students with a renewed sense of responsibility and awareness .After the session, Ms. Abisha K. A., Marketing Outreach, led the students in taking the YAAD pledge, affirming their commitment to staying drug-free and spreading the message among peers and in their communities. The vote of Thanks was by Ms. Jini K. S., Asst. Prof. and programme co-ordinator, expressing gratitude to the resource person and all participants for their active participation and support. As part of the post-session group activity, students were encouraged to creatively express their understanding of the theme by designing posters. They worked as a team for creating vibrant and powerful visual messages through posters which serves as a lasting reminder of this day’s relevance.
