NATIONAL READING DAY 2025

The Reading Day Celebration 2025 of Ahalia School of Commerce and Mathematics was held on Thursday, 19th June 2025, at the ASCM Seminar Hall. The event was organized to encourage reading habits among students and celebrate the power of literature.

The program commenced at 10:00 AM with a Welcome Address by Mrs. Sheeba Kumar S., Assistant Professor and Programme Coordinator. She gave a brief talk on the importance of reading, highlighting how it sharpens thinking, expands vocabulary, and fosters empathy. The Presidential Address was delivered by Dr. S. N. Jagadeesh, Principal. He spoke about how to develop good reading habits and their usefulness in both professional and personal life.

The Chief Guests for the day were Mr. Kumaradas T. N., Head of the Department of Screen Acting, and Mr. Amalesh Vijayan, Head of the Department of Visual Effects (VFX), both from the Ahalia School of Media Studies and Future Technologies. They were present to judge the reading competition and to distribute prizes to the winners.

The Reading Competition was the highlight of the event. Each student was given an extract from a famous novel and asked to complete the reading within three minutes. The judging criteria included fluency, pronunciation, expression, and overall presentation. All the students participated enthusiastically, and the judges appreciated the confidence and clarity displayed by the readers.

Following the competition, the chief guests distributed the prizes to the winners.
The first prize was secured by Ms. Adrishta K, the second place was secured by Ms. Anushiya S, and the third place was shared by Ms. Anjana M and Ms. Aghila Mariyam T. J., both of Second Year BBA.

The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Sheeba Kumar S., who expressed gratitude to the chief guests, principal, faculty members, student participants, and the organizing team. A few students also shared their experiences, expressing how enjoyable and enriching the event was.

The Reading Day Celebration was both engaging and inspiring, leaving students with a renewed interest and motivation to make reading a daily habit.
