WORKSHOP ON VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN
On Monday 25.11.2024 students and faculties of ASCM attended a workshop on Violence against women in AWACH auditorium from 2:00 P.M onwards. The Kerala State Department of Women and Child Development, in collaboration with Ahalia Group institutions and Ahalia Women and Children’s Hospital, organized the workshop. The event was inaugurated by District Legal Services Authority Secretary and Civil Judge Smt. Devika Lal. In her address, she highlighted that failure to respond to violence often perpetuates it further. Advocate P. Premnath educated students on the legal frameworks available to combat violence against women, explaining what constitutes violence under the law and the legal actions that can be taken. Dr. Suresh Babu K.G., Medical Director of Ahalia Group, conveyed his wishes for the program. Ms Bindu Valoor Manager, Academics Outreach Ahalia Group, explained the warning signs in relationships that require attention to prevent abuse. The workshop was attended by around 600 students and teachers. Teachers and students from Ahalia Group’s educational institutions performed skits and songs highlighting the theme. Leo Bernard, District Mission Coordinator of the Women and Child Development Department, delivered the welcome address, while Ms Jyotis Rachel Mathew, a faculty member of the Ahalia School of Management, expressed gratitude.
