GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATIONS 2024
The Gandhi Jayanti celebrations of ASCM and ASM commenced at 9:30 am. The event was inaugurated by Dr. B. Vijayachandran Pillai, Principal and Director, ASM. In his inaugural address, he emphasized on the significance of celebrating Gandhi Jayanti, particularly in the context of the current times. He highlighted the enduring relevance of Gandhian principles and how they are the “need of the hour” for addressing today’s societal challenges. He also stressed on different programs to be organised by educational institutes as part of Gandhi Jayanti celebrations.
Dr. S. N. Jagadeesh, Principal of ASCM, offered his felicitations and spoke on the theme of this year’s celebration, reflecting on how Gandhi’s teachings continue to inspire future generations.
Mr. E. P. B. Rajithan, Vice President Academics, in his address, stressed the importance of individual cleanliness and the broader need for a clean environment. He spoke about Mahatma Gandhi’s vision for cleanliness, both at a personal level and for society as a whole, and emphasized the role of individuals in maintaining cleanliness around them. He also reflected on Gandhi’s invaluable contributions to India and his status as the “Father of the Nation.”
Mr. Satheesh, Counselling Psychologist Ahalia Group, also offered his felicitations to the program. The program was further enriched by the participation of students. Ms. Lia Das and Ms. Pooja delivered thoughtful speeches in English and Malayalam, capturing the essence of Gandhian values. Ms. Farveena and Ms. Lohitha recited two beautiful poems about Mahatma Gandhi, written by Sarojini Naidu, adding a poetic touch to the event.
The formal vote of thanks was delivered by Mr. Anirudh. Thereafter a campus-wide cleaning drive was organised in which students, teaching, and non-teaching staff of both ASCM &ASM enthusiastically participated. As part of green initiative saplings were also planted in the campus students also segregated non-biodegradable waste items such as plastics, glass, and metals were collected and was properly disposed.
